Little Pianist: First Steps and First Piano Book for Beginners present the Russian Piano School approach to playing and teaching the piano. The key principle of the method is developing good playing habits and acquiring freedom and comfort of playing movements. Freedom and flexibility of hands, as the chief principle of piano playing, determines our approach to all technical and musical aspects of teaching piano.

Book One of the Method series is designed for the first 6 to 9 months of study. By the end of this term students can play the pieces, featuring different articulations – non legato, staccato, two-note-slurs and legato. And their hands are free and flexible. Second book takes another 6 to 9 months of study. Students learn to combine and coordinate different articulations in the right and left hand. After completing the second book students are ready to play Grade Two pieces according to the RCM Syllabus.
